RS unveils its Q3 performance, with its revenue exceeding 1,253.9 million baht, while the profit is 111.2% or 262.3 million baht. Its media business, particularly Channel 8 Digital TV and Channel 2, continue to grow significantly. It is confident that the last quarter of the year will be great, and has prepared new content for Channel 8, while Channel 2 joins hands with partners to tackle the market more aggressively. Its music business looks bright with four major sponsors partnering to organize Looktung Festival 4 on December 20 and 21.

Ladprao – Darm Nana, Chief Financial Officer of RS Public Company Limited, revealed that in the third quarter of 2014, the company made 1,253.9 million baht, a 37.4% growth compared to the same period last year. Its net profit is 262.3 million baht, or a 111.2% growth compared to the same period last year. So far, the third quarter is the most outstanding one of the year.

Meanwhile, its media business brought in 1,077.5 million baht, a 88% from the same period last year, with Channel 8 Digital TV and Channel 2 as the hero, thanks to the increased advertising space and advertising rate per minute following the price hike earlier this year. Channel 8 also has the highest rating among digital TV channels, while Channel 2 is aiming to become number one among satellite TV variety channels. The most popular content of Channel 8 includes Siang Sawan Pichit Fun and drama Phua Chua Krao, while Channel 2’s popular content is Kon Dung Nung Clear, Games Dara Shalala, and Show Tak Fong.

A part of the outstanding growth comes from the compensation fees for the business loss following the sudden change in policy regarding the World Cup Box. The company received 369.8 million baht from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), and 57.1 million baht is expected to be paid later.

The final quarter of the year looks promising. The company expects that the media business will continue to grow significantly, especially Channel 8 Digital TV, as new content will be added to expand its viewer base to include more groups, keeping in line with the slogan “Your Friend Everywhere, TV for Everyone”. It will partner with HBO Boxing to broadcast boxing matches, starting in Q4 of 2014 and throughout 2015, and is bringing famous content such as Naruto, Hunter X Hunter, Chinese series, new drama Mia Thuen by producer Kunnanat Kulpreeyawat, starring Film Rattapoom Tokongsup and Koy Ratchawin Wongviriya, and singing contest Rong Laek Like.

Channel 2 is also joining hands with many business partners to introduce exciting campaigns throughout this quarter to increase brand awareness among the public to draw new viewers. It will work with Grab Taxi to place slogan sticker “Channel 2 Full Flavored Entertainment for You” on its taxis in Bangkok and neighboring provinces, which aims to promote the channel and lead to trial viewing and fan base. It will also work with Susco gas stations, which has over 200 stations nationwide, by bringing the channel’s personalities and actors to join the campaign to stop driving when feeling sleepy during the New Year festival at the end of this year. The highlight is its partnership with Syoss haircare, offering a brand new car, gold, and iPads every week, valued at almost a million baht.

For its music business, RS will join hands with four business partners – Toyota, Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Salz toothpaste, and Lotus breadsticks, organizing Looktung Festival 4 on December 20-21, 2014 at The 11th Infantry Battalion, Bangkhen, Bangkok, featuring R Siam artists, famous stars, TV personalities, DJs, and dancers, all on one extravagant state.
