"RS" has undergone a major restructure for its music business and appointed Supachai Nilawan to oversee the overall picture of this business unit.

The company's music revolution and the appointment of Mr. Supachai, its veteran executive, to look after the music business is a new business model for RS to generate incomes from artist management, which is considered its own content, to increasing advertising airtime for every media channel. The customer-oriented strategy is a key to produce quality content and RS is confident that advertising spending on media outlets and the music industry still have strong growth in the future.

Mr. Surachai Chetchotisak, chief executive officer of RS Public Company Limited, said today people do not listen to less music but instead they listen more. Meanwhile, music operators must be alert and adjust themselves along with the change of consumer lifestyle and find a new business model to generate additional incomes for survival.

RS still considered music as its major investment and a upstream of other businesses, so it decided to adjust the structure of music business by looking to generate additional income through a synergy with other business units under the same group. The business synergy will create new opportunities and maximize benefit for RS.

Even RS has transformed itself to become a media content provider and operate five TV channels and three radio stations, it still brings the strength of core music business to add values for its media business. At the present, all media operations in RS' hands are No.1 in each segment. After having more synergies, RS hopes that its music and media businesses will be stronger and successful from 2015. Its move is a new revolution the giant music camp did to shake up the music business in Thailand.

Meanwhile, Mr. Soopachai Nilawan, the head of subsidiary R Siam, has been appointed RS' senior vice president for music business, to oversee the overall music picture for the group, effective since Sept 15, 2014. Mr. Supachai was chosen because he is a veteran executive in the music industry, having with a lot of experiences from production limelight and behind-the-screen activities. He has understood behavior of Thai consumers and has built R Siam to become a fully integrated Luk Thung music camp and No. 1 in the folk music segment for several years. Today, R Siam has complemented the RS' organizational culture and grown along with the parent firm.

Besides, Mr. Soopachai Nilawan, senior executive vice president for music business of RS Plc, said he was pleased and honored to be assigned by Mr. Surachai to work for this important position. In his view, he is not worried about his new duty and responsibility as it is not too difficult to work to achieve the target after he has been working in the music industry for 23 years. He has passed through a lot of works and difficulties and is confident that this time he can steer the overall music business unit for RS to get a success as the new business model has a lot of flexibility. This will benefit RS' music business and support the media operation which has two satellite TV channels (Sabaidee TV and You Channel) and three radio stations (Sabaidee Radio FM 88.5, Cool Fahrenheit 93 and Cool Celsius 91.5).

Together with the change is the focus on customer-oriented strategy, which will concentrate on customer demand when producing content as RS realizes that customer is the most important person from music listener to business partner. The more RS is committed to producing quality content and providing the best service, the more customers will have satisfaction and this will eventually drive the company to achieve the success.

During the fourth quarter of this year, RS' Thai music camp will organize two big concerts, Kamikaze Dance Neramit on Oct 4, 2014, at Royal Paragon Hall, and DAN BEAM D2B on Nov 2, 2014, at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani. Its Luk Thung music camp has plans to introduce the Chai Muang Sing covered music project to bring the national artist Chai to do a featuring with R Siam singers such as Baitey and Cha. As well, it will organize Luk Thung Festival Season 4, the biggest folk music event for the year, during Dec 10-11, 2014, at the Royal Army Infantry 11 Division in Bangkok.
