RS unveils record breaking revenue in 2013, reaching new high net profit of 400 million Shareholders delighted as board greenlights 35 satang dividend

RS is pleased to announce that its revenue in 2013 broke the company's all-time record, bagging in 3.4 billion baht at 20% growth while its profit was 400 million baht or a 30% increase. Media business continues to be the hero, generating 2 billion baht and growing by 60%. Satellite TV, in particular, rose rapidly along with escalating advertising revenue. Dividend will be paid at 35 satang per share.

RS chief financial officer Darm Nana recently revealed that the company's turnover in 2013 was a record high ever since the company was established 30 years ago. The total revenue was 3,483.3 million baht, a 611.2 million baht increase from the previous year or a 21.3% growth. The net profit was 394.5 million baht, a 110.2 million baht increase or a 38.8% growth. Its media business also grew significantly.

In 2013, the media business generated 1,986.3 million baht revenue, a 793.3 million baht increase or a 66% growth. The rapid growth was thanks to the expansion of its five satellite TV channels namely Channel 8, Channel 2 Star Max, Sabaidee TV, You Channel and Sun Channel La Liga. The five channels were able to expand their advertising platform because the content was upgraded and the schedule was rearranged to make the channels more attractive for the audience. The popular programs are "Entertainment 108", "Pak Pong" and new soap operas such as "Ka Kab Hong", "Kao Nork Na", "Nang Man", "Wiwa Pacha Taek", and "Poo Chana Sib Tid" on Channel 8. Other programs which have good ratings are "Lunchtime Entertainment" and "Sod Chuen" on Sabaidee TV, and "Kong Dung Nung Clear" and "Hi Entertain" on Channel 2 Star Max.

The success of its media business was also because of its three radio stations, which are COOL Fahrenheit 93 which has remained the most popular easy listening radio station for 12 consecutive years, Sabaidee Radio 88.5 and COOL Celsius 91.5. The increased revenue came from the increased advertising rate of COOL Fahrenheit 93, whose advertising platform is highly used. There is also income from the stations' activities, as well as from the company's expansion to international music. The company continues to be popular among the audience whether on radio, online or through application. The activities organized by each of the stations were also very well-received by the audience and the advertisers.

Additionally, in the media business, RS also enjoyed income from managing the broadcasting rights of La Liga, Copa del Rey and the match played by the Spanish national team in the qualifying round of the World Cup 2014. Other main sources of income were selling the Sun Box, advertising and sublicensing.

R Siam was phenomenally popular with over 80 million views on YouTube. The song was frequently listened to on Deezer, and popularly downloaded through mobile operators and iTunes.

The showbiz sector brought in 692.6 million baht, a 3% decrease from the year before. Main concerts and activities in 2013 were "RS Meeting Concert Return 2013", "Short Charge Shock Rock Return Concert", "Kamikaze K Fight Concert", "Look Thung Festival Year 3" and "Sabaidee On Tour Year 4".

Thanks to the continuous growth in revenue and profit, RS's financial status is very strong, resulting in good news for its shareholders. The board has greenlighted an extra 20 satang dividend per share, on top of the 15 satang interim dividend, or 35 satang in total. The resolution is waiting for approval at the Annual General Meeting 2014 on April 24, 2014.

The company has set strategies for 2014 in accordance with its mission to be Media Revolutionist 2014, revolutionizing the media industry by developing its content to be more accessible and diverse, targeting every group of audience. It is also planning for synergy among its businesses, aiming to generate 5 billion baht this year.
