RS has recently unveiled its performance in the second quarter of 2013, in which it generated 795 million baht income and 110 million baht net profits, a 21% increase from the previous year. The quarter saw record-breaking performance (not including the quarter with FIFA World Cup), as its media business continues to grow steadily. The TV and radio businesses are still at number one in terms of rating, audience and revenue. In the second quarter alone, the media business brought in 454 million baht, a 68% increase from the previous year.

Ladprao – RS chief financial officer Mr Darm Nana revealed the performance of the second quarter of 2013 that the company has enjoyed 795 million baht revenue, a 13% increase from the previous year, whereas the net profits have risen to 110 million baht, a 21% increase compared to the same period last year. The media business was able to bring in 454 million baht, a 68% increase from the year before, following the advertising price increase earlier this year, which was in line with the increasing rating and popularity of its media outlets such as satellite TV channels Sabaidee TV, Channel 8, You Channel, Star Max Channel and Sun Channel, as well as radio stations namely Cool Fahrenheit 93 and Sabaidee Radio 88.5. Rating survey by Nielsen Media Research shows that every satellite TV channel and radio station under RS’s management is number one in its own target group. RS operates its business with a platform that caters to the audience’s changing lifestyle, including the launch of a new international music radio station COOL Celsius 91.5. It is the first time for a Thai radio station to broadcast licensed content from overseas, such as American Top 40 chart by Ryan Seacrest, live from Hollywood at the same time as 150 other radio stations worldwide. The station has been increasingly popular among the audience who stay tuned via radio, online and application.

Meanwhile, the music business generated 186 million baht in the same quarter. “Rak Tong Perd Nan Ok” by 3.2.1 feat Baitoey R Siam remains popular, breaking the record with 54 views on YouTube, the highest views in the country in only two months. Additionally, RS also offers music streaming via its application DEEZER, which is also increasingly popular. The showbiz generated 148 million baht, with two rounds of “RS Meeting Concert Return 2013” and other events that meet the needs of the clients.

The steady growth is in line with the target, injecting the financial health of RS with strength. RS shareholders will soon hear good news, as the board has approved the paying of 0.15 baht interim dividends per share within September 6, 2013.

“As for the third quarter, we will continue to focus on our media business, with some strategic adjustments for both TV and radio to keep up with the changing market and competition. We will also fully operate the rights of La Liga Spain 2013-2014, which kicks off this August. For our music business, we will still produce music that meets the demands of our fans, while also introducing new services with modern technology. Our showbiz will include big concerts such as Short Charge Shock Rock Legend which will take place on August 17, 2013 at IMPACT Arena Muang Thong Thani, and it is expected to be well-received by the fans. Meanwhile, we’re waiting to hear more details about the digital TV auction, as regulations are yet to be confirmed by the NBTC. When we have more info, we can assess our investment more clearly,” remarked Mr Darm.
