RS First Quarter 2012 confirms its stronghold entertainment and sport business leader by recording revenue of over 600 million baht and net profit of 57 million baht.

RS announces strong revenue of 601.18 million baht and net profit of 57.54 million baht for the first quarter of this year, which the financial results were higher than previously expected for the impact of the flood crisis.

Media business showed a strong performance especially TV business that demonstrated 3 times growth, which that strengthened RS's goal to move ahead the Digital Entertainment Network provider and confirmed the image of the entertainment network of Thailand.

Commenting on the strong results, Darm Nana, Chief Financial Officer of RS, said the revenue of 601.18 million baht and net profit of 57.54 million baht were higher than the company expected thoungRS had predicted the flood crisis in the fourth quarter last year wouldcontinually impact on its businesses.

Revenue in the first quarter was mainly from two businesses consist of media business such as TV, radio and in-store media, which accounts for 30% of total revenue and the remainder of 70% is content business featuring of music, showbiz, movie and sports.

Key driver is media business, particularly TV business, which grew by 67.33% compared with the same quarter last year. Satellite TV which is in RS's TV business features of Sabaidee TV, You Channel, Channel 8 and YAAK TV. The satellite TV has skyrocketing revenue growth of 240 % from the same period last year. Moreover, the satellite TV was guaranteed by the research of AGB Nielsen Media Research founded that four channels of RS's satellite TV ranked the largest audiences.

Sabaidee TV ranked number one, YOU Channel ranked number two and YAAK TV ranked number five in music segment, while Channel 8 ranked number one in entertainment variety segment after TV series "Thong Prakai Saad" can highty capture the audiences.

While, radio business operated by Sky-High Network showed the continuring revenue growth with the 27.08% compared with the first quarter last year.

The only radio station Cool 93 Fahrenheit maintained its top radio station, according to rating for Easy Listening radio station segment. Cool recently has broadened audiences' base to the northern of Thailand by launching FM88 Chiang Mai Cool Mak, which the station has been good feedback both listeners and sponsorship.

For content business especially music which is upstream business of RS, it recorded revenue of 218.38 million baht thanks to the clear music services segmentation such as the digital product under the campaign of Super Mao *339 for downloading Thai modern music and campaign *223 provided by R Siam for downloading top Thai country music in term of calling melody, ringtone full songs and music videos from the Kingdom's largest country music label in order to reduce complicated process of music download.

However, the rising star business of RS this year is sport business after RS won the three-year (2012-2015) broadcasting rights for Spainsh La Liga league. The company in cooperative with the free TV's Channel 7 and mobile operator DTAC to broadcast football matches via satellite TV, local cable, Channel 7 and DTAC Online.

RS launched RS Sport La Liga, the latest satellite TV channel, which come together with new definition of Pay TV' concept by allowing audiences to watch the matches more easily, with more convenience, and at a fair price. Full coverage costs 100 baht per month.

The company targets to attract 200,000 subscribers for the first season and 800,000 subscribers by the end of the 2015 season, which the sport business will support RS's revenue this year to achieve 3.2 billion baht.

"We will move ahead with the business plan to build media and content to be stronger. Yet, we this year will focus more on TV and sport businesses because RS won the three-year (2012-2015) broadcasting rights for Spainsh La Liga league including the launch of RS Sport La Liga. Moreover, we plan to do marketing activities to support TV and sport businesses. Audiences will be surprised from the sport activity that to be launched this month, we can guarantee the La Liga audiences will have to exciting from our activity," he said.
