The robust growth of media business at 70% drives RS Plc's second quarter revenue to 713 million baht. Meanwhile, RS announces to pay the interim dividend at 0.10 baht per share to shareholders

RS Plc, a leading integrated media company, revealed its operating performance in the second quarter of this year by recording revenue of 713.82 million baht and net profit of 61.42 million baht. For quarterly revenues, the best performing division was satellite TV, sent RS to become the nation digital entertainment network leader.

Lad Phrao - Darm Nana, Chief financial officer of RS Plc, noted that the company recorded revenue of 713.82 million baht and net profit of 61.42 million baht. Revenue was divided two portfolios, firstly, media business including free TV, radio and in-store media, which media business contributes 40% of total revenue. Secondly, content business, which consists of music and digital, showbiz, movie, and sport, which contributes 60% of total revenue.

The impressive growth of quarterly revenue was mainly due to media, which posted revenue of 287.26 baht, jumped by 70.17% or 118.45 million baht. The best performing business in the second quarter is free TV and satellite TV with turnover of 135.55 million baht, surged by 208.51%. The satellite TV business in particular has become the outstanding business with revenue of 70.19 million, a 1,328.47 % skyrocketing over the same period last year.

The company, which currently operates four satellite channels - Sabaidee TV, the most popular music channel for all consumers, You Channel, the most popular music channel for teenagers, Channel 8 Infinity, the top three popular channel of entertainment variety according to AC Nielsen Media Research and YAAK TV, which was launched in early August and received warm welcome by sponsors and audiences. YAAK TV has already become the most popular variety program of teenage audience due to the concept of 24-hour variety uncensored free TV.

For radio business, which operated by Sky High Network Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of RS, remains strong growth in revenue with 92.70 million baht, increased by 28.44% in the same quarter last year. Sky High Network operates the Cool 93 Fahrenheit radio station, still control the market leader in easy listening music station in Thailand. While, in-store media showed quarterly revenue of 59 million baht, grew by 12.03% year on year, from a100% utilization rate.

For content business, music and digital generated revenue to RS of more than 218.17 million baht thanks to the digital product campaign "Super Mao *399" and "Calling melody festival with RS" with a one price at only 29 baht. For showbiz business, which contributed revenue of over 201.80 million,

a 77.07% compared with the same quarter last year, the increase revenue was mainly due to concert and event organizing. RS jointly with Cool 93 Fahrenheit is organizing the major concert of the year "RAPTOR 2011 THE CONCERT", which will be shown in early October. The show has already been added up one extra show from originally one to two shows. Moreover, "RAPTOR 2011 THE CONCERT", is recording a phenomenon of the fastest ticket sales concert within a few hours.

"For the first six months, RS has achieved 45% of the revenue target for the whole year which is exactly as planned. So, the board of directors approved the interim dividend to our shareholders at 0.10 baht per share, which the dividend will be paid on September9, 2011 " he said.

"That the robust growth of all business particularly satellite TV, and showbiz business especially two major concerts - "KAMIKAZE LOVE ver' CONCERT" and "RAPTOR 2011 THE CONCERT", which will be shown in the second half this year include several events, RS believes that it can achieve the 2011 target revenue of 3.1 billion baht." says Darm.
