R Siam, RS Plc's country-music subsidiary, would collaborate with business partners in Laos to provide digital downloading services of Thai country music in a bid to expand listeners base and revenue.

After succeeding the client base expansion last year, RSiam, the country music market leader, is continuing the platform to this year due RSiam believes Thai country music has greater room to grow especially in neighboring countries. The company was ready to join local partners in Laos to help expand customers base and revenue by using content and Sabaidee TV, which was the most popular satellite channel in Laos to capture the market. RSiam is confidence the potential of its contents would boost the rating of Sabaidee TV over there as well.

Latprao - Soopachai Nillawan, managing director of RSiam, reveals that RSiam has provided country music under the One Stop Service Music Marketing strategy to meet 360-degree revenue. Rely on strength of more than 100 artists cover original country music such as Noo Miter, Kung Suthirat; Music for life such as Luang Kai, Baw Wee, Bew Kalayanee; North-Eastern country music style (Lookthung Isaan) such as Jintara Poonlarp, Sanoock Singmart and modern-pop country music such as Blueberry, Kratae-Kratai, Baitoei etc.

RSiam's artists have continually launched their quality songs to create liveliness for Thai country music. That music can also hit all listeners across the country and many popular songs in Thailand persuades RSiam can expand client base into Laos. The expansion to Laos would be able to create awareness of Thai country music among neighboring countries.

The overall country-music market in Thailand was worth about 1.5 billion baht annually, which RSiam accounted for 40-45%. RSiam has secured audiences in Bangkok and provinces, which key successes that help RSiam become the market leader are the various of music's and the quality contents. As a result, the company's revenue in 2011 was 470 million baht, of which music and digital businesses contributed for 400 million baht and showbiz business at 70 million baht.

Meanwhile, RSiam runs satellite TV - Sabaidee TV under the concept of all members in family can enjoy watching various styles of Thai music, which the channel has supported RSiam music, led Thai country music of RSiam label can received warm welcome by audiences nationwide and Sabaidee TV can become the top rating in the music channel segment.

Sabaidee TV has revenue of 120 million baht in 2011, and the achievement of RSiam reflected on both revenue and number of audiences. In 2012, RSiam still focus on music, showbiz and satellite TV businesses which provide favorite music videos (MV) and entertainment programs for family. RSiam also strengthens music business with the full contents of entertainment throughout the year such as concert of Sabaidee, which organized for 15 concerts within 1 year. The concert has been organized for 3 years consecutives.

RSiam, therefore, would expand the successful stories from what it has been done in Thailand to Laos by offering music-downloading services via four networks of mobile operators in Laos. The company expects to receive greater welcome from Laos audiences, moreover, it will attract more Laos viewers to watch Sabaidee TV as well because Laos people are flavor artists of RSiam.

The company projects revenue for 2012 at 750 million baht, accounts for 23% of total RS's revenue. Of total the estimated revenue in 2012, music and digital business is expected to generate 450 million baht or increase 12.5% from last year, 200 million baht in revenue from Sabaidee TV or grow 66.7% from last year and showbiz is expected to generate revenue of 100 million baht or increase by 42.8%.

Content providers must also provide various styles in order to offer alternative for audiences, nevertheless, what kinds of music must rely on personal as well. Art and business should be combined if operators want to survive as same as music labels at present which that have to adjust platforms and strategies".
